Miners and Supporters to Rally in Henderson, Kentucky as Fight Continues for Retired and Active Miners

Active and retired members of the United Mine Workers, along with labor and community supporters, will rally at the Henderson County Courthouse in Henderson, Kentucky, as part of a nationwide campaign to protect active and retired miners who work – or have worked – for Patriot Coal, Arch Coal and Peabody Energy.

Miners and Supporters Return to St. Louis as Bankruptcy Judge Nears Decision on Retiree Health Benefits, Union Contract

Active and retired members of the United Mine Workers, along with labor and community supporters, will march and rally in downtown St. Louis on Tuesday May 21. U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Kathy Surratt-States will rule on or before May 29 on a request by Patriot Coal to effectively eliminate health care benefits for more than 23,000 retired miners and their families.

Thousands to Rally in St. Louis as U.S. Bankruptcy Court Begins Hearing on Threatened Cuts for Active and Retired Miners

More than three thousand active and retired coal miners and their families, joined by labor, consumer and faith leaders, will return to St. Louis on Monday, April 29 as the U.S. Bankruptcy Court begins hearings on Patriot Coal's demand to effectively eliminate health care for retired miners and impost severe cutbacks on pay, working conditions and benefits for active miners.
