Freedom and Justice for All

If you look up the definition of love, there is no one-way of defining it.  In fact, there are over two-dozen meanings for the word ‘love,’ my personal favorite: a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.

Just as there are various definitions of love, there are countess ways to express it.  Love can be shown in the simplest ways: over a cup of coffee; offering up your last French fry; watching their favorite movie; a good morning phone call; or, cooking someone’s favorite meal.  We show people we love them everyday, even in the smallest ways.

We display our love on big scales, too.  Celebrating major life events, such as moving to be closer to someone, or even giving up opportunities. The strongest human expression of love, though, is choosing to share your life together and getting married, letting someone know that you chose them over anyone else, every single day, for the rest of your life.

Growing up, you quickly learn that love is the most complicated, heartbreaking, simple, wonderful and rewarding part of life. Sharing our life with someone who accepts you for exactly who you are, and adores every side of you, is what life is all about.

Up until the other week, so many Americans were denied their right to marry, based solely on their sexual orientation. On Friday, June 26 2015, our country made an incredible mark on history, legalizing gay marriage nationwide.  This is a moment to celebrate.  This is a moment to remember.  Now more than ever, I am feeling proud to be an American.

Love is responsibility.  Love is beautiful.  Love is free, and now finally, love is for all.
