In the Wake of a Paris Tragedy

“This is an attack not just on Paris, an attack not just on the people of France, but this is an attack on all humanity and the universal values that we share,” President Barack Obama said in addressing the press the day after the Paris, France attacks.

The City of Love & Lights experienced a series of coordinated terrorist attacks on November 13th. There were more than 100 people killed in Paris.

I have grown up as a Millennial through several tragic world events in which millions of people have suffered pain and death. It is unfortunate that we live in constant fear every day, never knowing who the enemy may be.

The New York Times reported that hospitals were well overcapacity with wounded as “ambulances were seen racing back and forth in the area into the early hours of Saturday.”

France was placed under a state of emergency and tightened its border controls. While an investigation is ongoing, the rest of the European countries are on edge. Hundreds of people have paid their respects around the world and held vigils in remembrance of those who lost their lives during Paris’ terrorist attacks.
