An Internet hoax or myth is information portrayed to be true, but is actually false. Internet hoaxes can be dangerous in providing misinformation to people that may alter their thoughts or actions. This information can be defamatory and play on fears, biases and stereotypes. Hoax sites will likely prompt you to share the fake story on Facebook or Twitter, and many people do without checking the facts.

To Tranquilize or Not To Tranquilize?

Zookeepers at the Cincinnati Zoo shot and killed a rare gorilla after a four-year-old boy fell into the enclosure Saturday. The whole incident lasted about 10 minutes. People are divided on the issue as to whether or not the gorilla named Harambe deserved to die. The zoo director made the final call that the gorilla should be shot rather than tranquillized, and he stands by his decision.
